Great Social Media Campaigns for Internet Marketers

Internet marketers seek modern ways and solutions to successful social media campaigns every day. However social media process is different for internet and offline businesses. Even e-commerce and niche websites require multiple methods and tips. There are two primary concerns in any campaign – How to increase followers, fans and subscribers? and What methods to use to  create great social media campaigns? I want to expand this question and support with more facts and examples. In reality this questions are worthless, if we don’t know why we need our fans and followers. Social media campaign is interrelated with advertising – it really is the part of modern advertising. So discovering advertising techniques will result in possible profitable outcomes in social media. First of all let’s distinguish the scope of great social media campaigns and than define the primary process (or fundamental blueprint).

Every social media campaign covers simple advertising principles. What should we know and utilize in every method before launching our campaign? Let’s discuss some factors.

1. Creativity

Possibly the driver of every social media campaign. Putting innovative methods and unique ideas can boost success on very small marketing budget. Remember the campaign of small budget movie Paranormal Activity – when they created  ‘’the interaction’’ with their fans, gave them the ability to share emotions. As a result everything went virally and successfully. Also I remember Adidas star Derek Rose Returning Campaign after the injuries.

2. Virality

Your product (books, software, content) should generate a trend, which will be able to spread all over the web with enlightening message.

3. Relevancy

If you are not relevant and target audience don’t understand, why they need you and what benefits will they get, failure appears.

4. Simplicity

Don’t make a labyrinth of various methods, don’t create many gimmicks. Avoid to be more original, than you can be. Remember that every great social media campaigns are built on “I MUST” “not “I SHOULD”.

5. Competitiveness

Try to show off and stand out, catch unique competitive advantage and avoid junk, past and safe ideas. Be the innovator and spread your voice.

These are main principles, that breath around the main theme – content (message or advertorial in advertising), which stimulates emotions and makes target customers share, like or subscribe.
Successful social media marketing elements, which define our strategy.
In the next paragraph let’s move to the essential social media blueprint, which can be expanded into successful social media marketing campaigns.

1. Define your purpose

In the first paragraph I told you, that nothing can be achieved without knowing what you want and why. What you want? – this question  refers  to the mission, vision and valuable proposition. You should know why you exist, position yourself in niche competition and realize how much value can be achieved. Why you want? – are goals and objectives. There are many reasons – increase number of fans, followers (reputation and awareness), remind customers about you, inform new customers or persuade them to buy something.

 2.  Learn Target Audience

Do some research to understand, what characteristics your target people might have and how you could utilize them. Knowing consumer behavior is crucial for any campaign.

3. Create Content material

Content is the basement of every campaign. So crafting valuable content with target messages is essential. Content differs from the messages and social media types. It must stimulate interest and tell something. Content strategy should be clear and consistent with social media campaign.

4. Brand social media

Every new social signal can easily increase brand awareness and loyalty ,or on the contrary impact negatively on reputation .Reputation is the product of personality building ,which deals with your purpose statement . So simply reply to the main question – Is this social media campaign relevant and consistent with my brand ? Will it carry similar intangible and tangible traits ?

5. Choose media type

Every content can be transformed into PDFs, videos, images, blogs and tweets. You can create tons of content and than utilize them in different channels. But my strategy is always converting one strong content relevantly into different media types, because it increases quality.

6. Choose a medium

There are tons of social networks in the internet:

Twitter

Facebook

Google+

Pinterest

Tumblr

Slideshare

Blogger

WordPress.com

LinkedIn

Diigo

Delicious.

Each of them requires different approach and therefore different media types. Distribution comes at this point.

7. Distribute your media type through the medium

Distribution is the most complex part of such campaigns . In social media every network works in collaboration with each other .I advise you to do basic distribution flow chart .  For example I have a innovative diet product.

a. I have learned my target audience and understood when to inform them about launching it.
b. Created small informational video and put in on Youtube and Pinterest.
c.  Oh my god, now I can promote this video everywhere in Google +, Facebook and finally announce about it on twitter.

Now imagine I have created the presentation of this diet product, put in on slideshare, announced about it on twitter and than promote tweets on other social networks. As we see effective distribution of content depends on your level of creativity and management.

8. Monitor results

Always measure performance and analyze the outcomes and failures. Use simple social media metrics for measuring results. In fact every great social media campaigns need improvements and reforms – so constantly inspire yourself.
